Fakear & Baozi Live at Alter K: Events at Our Offices

Fakear & Baozi Live at Alter K: A Night of Music in Our Offices
On Tuesday night, September 22, our offices turned into a live venue. Alter K welcomed the teams behind Baozi (MIM Records) and Fakear (Nowadays Records) to celebrate the recent releases of their respective projects. After our previous listening sessions, this night was all about celebration: a space to meet, share and connect around a common passion for music.
Meeting Baozi
A few minutes before her set, we sat down with Baozi to talk about her new project, Liminal Echo, released on September 18 via MIM Records. She spent the past year composing it between Paris and Hong Kong, where she is originally from.
« Mimi (cute) and nostalgic, » this second EP arrives a year and a half after Overstepped, the project that first laid the foundations of her artistic universe. From its visuals to the textures and track titles, nostalgia runs through every layer, shaping the project’s electro-pop soundscape.
« From a young age, surrounded by my older brothers and sisters, I was already nostalgic for the past. That nostalgia has stayed with me throughout my life, becoming a kind of protection against the fear of growing up, of becoming an adult. »

Baozi then took the stage for a meticulously crafted set in which audience participation played a central role.
« I feel like it does people good to sing and dance with me, all connected. It’s cathartic. »
Her next step is already set: on October 3, she will play La Boule Noire for her first headline show, alongside two other artists from the diaspora, Ilo Navahy and Cumulus.

Reuniting with Fakear
It was then Fakear‘s turn, unveiling his new album, a nice place to be: an intimate journey, as festive as it is introspective, through a constantly shifting landscape of feelings. We also talked with him about how long-standing relationships can shape an artist’s story, particularly in the music industry.
« Ugo, Nowadays’ founder, who’s here tonight, came to me in 2012 after a Wax Tailor show I opened for. I was on my own and didn’t really know what to do. We’re still working together today: same team, same energy. We are like a family. They’ve become so important to me. Even though I initially craft it alone, my music wouldn’t sound the same without their support. »
As a prelude to his upcoming tour, Fakear delivered a highly contrasted live performance, mirroring the emotional range of his album.
« I want the set to be unpredictable, surprising, to feel alive. I hope it’s an album you can listen to both while chilling in your room and while partying at a festival. »

How we organise a live night in our offices
Hosting a live show in an office space takes preparation. Ahead of the night, we coordinated with both MIM Records and Nowadays Records to settle every practical detail: the layout of the space, sound equipment, catering and drinks. We kept the lighting simple, with floor projectors and neons only and no ceiling rig, so the space stayed flexible and the focus stayed on the music. The guest list was limited, which kept the evening close to the artists.
Working hand in hand with the labels means each team brings its own knowledge of its artist, while we bring the space, the logistics and our network of professionals, artists and fans.

Live events at Alter K
Alter K brings together publishing, sync, distribution and label services, and hosts a range of formats in its offices and studio, from high-energy showcases to intimate listening sessions. In November 2025, the space welcomed a listening session dedicated to Susumu Yokota, a key figure in Japanese ambient and electronic music, on the occasion of the reissue of his album Sakura.
Whether for a release celebration, a showcase or a listening session, we support artists and their teams with venue, technical set-up and logistics, drawing on our network of industry professionals.
